Capital One Shopping is a shopping rewards portal that works via a web browser plugin, while also looking for eligible coupons and lower prices from different sellers. When you shop through an eligible merchant, you earn cashback rewards. Right now, if you sign up via a referral link, you can earn a $40 bonus after installing their free browser plugin and keep it installed for 90 days. You don’t even need to make a purchase, although chances are that you’ll make one even by accident and earn some extra cash back since they track everything automatically. That’s mine, thanks if you use it! You can then refer your spouse or friends as well.
Eligible merchants include Walmart, eBay, Booking.com, Chewy, Dell, Kohl’s, Safeway, Sam’s Club, Snapfish, YETI, and Zappos.
Installation was quick and painless. Note that the bonus must be redeemed as a gift card. I also redeemed my bonus as an eBay gift card (and have already spent it…) You can also redeem as Walmart gift card as of this writing (October 2024).
Note: You do not need to be a Capital One customer of any kind to use Capital One Shopping.
More about Capital One Shopping:
Capital One Shopping finds better offers from other sellers while you browse Amazon products or when you search on Capital One Shopping directly. If the product has selectable options like size and color, Capital One Shopping will start working as soon as you pick your options. If your product doesn’t have any options, Capital One Shopping will start working immediately. When there are savings, Capital One Shopping will display the lowest priced match within 10-15 seconds.

* Offer terms may change at any time. The operative offer terms for both Referrer and Refer-ee will be determined at the time the Refer-ee creates a Shopping User Account using a referral link. Check back at this page for current offer terms. This offer is available only for Refer-ees who are new Capital One Shopping users (real people who do not have [and have not previously had] a Capital One Shopping User Account). For either the Referrer or Refer-ee to be eligible for a referral bonus, the Refer-ee must install either the Shopping desktop or mobile extension in their primary browser with full permissions, and on a device in which the extension has never previously been installed. The Refer-ee must install the Shopping extension within 7 days of creating a Shopping User Account using a referral link. The Refer-ee must then regularly use the Shopping extension and shop as they normally would, on their primary browser and with full permissions granted, during the trial period following the installation date. Uninstalling the Shopping extension or changing its permissions at any time during the trial period will prevent both the Referrer and Refer-ee from receiving a referral bonus. To be eligible for this offer, both the Referrer and Refer-ee must be located in and reside in the United States. Both the Referrer and Refer-ee must also provide a verified, unique phone number, email address, and complete Capital One Shopping User Account. Additional identity, location, and other eligibility verification may be required. If a Refer-ee is not deemed eligible for a referral bonus, then neither will the Referrer, and vice versa. Capital One Shopping users may only earn up to $500 in referral bonuses from the referral program. Users must comply with all additional Terms of Service. All referral bonuses are subject to review. Capital One Shopping reserves the right to withhold, deny, or cancel any referral bonuses and/or Shopping Rewards and/or to terminate Capital One Shopping User Accounts if Capital One Shopping, in its sole discretion, deems any attempt to redeem a referral bonus to be fraudulent, abusive, unethical, suspicious, or otherwise inconsistent with any terms and conditions that accompany this offer, our Terms of Service or any other applicable law or regulation.
The plugin hasn’t been overly intrusive so far, and mostly just looks at where you are shopping and automatically applies whatever coupon codes it has in its database at the checkout. Otherwise, it shows you other merchants selling the same item. You can uninstall the plugin after getting the bonus and cashing out if you wish.
Notably, I actually choose to keep this plugin installed on a voluntary basis (on one of my browsers). It is actually helpful to find coupons on smaller sites, as I have found it better than the old “retailmenot”-type sites and searching online. I have saved anywhere from 25 cents to $20 extra with no effort.
